The social event of the VCBM 2010 workshop will take place in Leipzig Zoo and the associated Kiwara Lodge.
The event starts at 6.30 pm with a guided tour through Leipzig Zoo. One of the zoo’s main fun and scientific attractions is Pongoland. Pongoland, the world of the apes, was opened in 2001. This unique research centre is a cooperation project with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (MPI-EVA). Scientists of the MPI-EVA who study the development of humanity sometimes conduct, in sight of the public, behaviour observation on the monkeys in order to find out more about their abilities and therefore draw conclusions about the origin of human beings.
After the tour (8 pm) there will be a reception with dinner at the african Kiwara Lodge in the zoo . The dinner and the first drink are included in the conference fee.
